Building a Data Science Group - Is there a right way? Perspectives from a Data Scientist/Astro-nerd w/ Kelly Denney, Principal Data Scientist at Illumination Works.
Data science and the tools and applications landscape to support it in industry today are daunting. What types of skills should one look for in a data scientist? What skills might differentiate a data scientist from an expert BI analyst or a rockstar software engineer? How many data scientists does your company need to support your business use cases? What type of working environment is best to maximize your data science return?
Kelly Denney is a Principal Data Scientist at Illumination Works, LLC, a solution enablement company that offers consulting services and project support for all things data. She recently presented on this topic at the Women in Analytics conference, but would like to continue the conversation. She doesn't have all the answers but will present her perspective on these questions and lead a discussion with the goal of all attendees leaving with a little more insight into the key factors to consider when building a data science group.
Come to learn and to contribute to this open discussion, and enjoy some drinks, snacks, and good company while you're there.
A big thanks to Illumination Works and HiQo Solutions for sponsoring the event and Hopewell for letting us hang out in their space!
