Vinyasa is a combination of sun salutations, balancing poses, inversions, and arm balance to improve concentration, stamina, and overall health. I believe self care is one of the most important, yet overlooked, gifts we have. Living in a busy, work-minded culture, taking time to care for our health is easy to forget and so we are often led away from conscious, healthy habits. Ayurveda and yoga are reminders that we have this natural ability to care for and heal ourselves.
Using food and lifestyle as 'medicine', including 5 sense therapies, herbs, yoga, meditation, and healthy eating habits, I work one-on-one with clients to gain a deeper understanding of the underlying cause of any dis-ease they are experiencing, and we then work together to create a health plan specific to that individual human's unique constitution and lifestyle. Healing is not a one-size-fits-all kind of thing and Ayurvedic wisdom recognizes that.
I hold degrees in Philosophy and Psychology, which help me to logically analyze and counsel, but there was something missing for me in these academic pursuits. Yoga and Ayurveda turned out to be the missing link for me, offering deeper practices that connect mind, body and spirit, cultivating stillness in the mind and healing in the body, leading us back to our natural state of being, of healthy and whole. A long-time yoga practitioner, I finally decided to become officially certified to teach! I completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training through Yoga on High in Columbus, Ohio.
My Ayurveda studies began at the Yoga on High Ayurveda Institute through the California College of Ayurveda (CCA), where I certified as an Ayurveda Health Educator. I am currently continuing my studies through the Belly Mind Institute as an Ayurveda Health Counselor Intern and am seeing clients as an Ayurveda Health Consultant.
